This rainforest substrate regulates the humidity of the terrarium in a natural way, absorbing it and releasing it slowly. Its hygroscopic properties are maximized by adding natural sphenium moss to the mix. Sufficient air humidity levels aid skin loss and help prevent respiratory infections. The unique size and shape of the bark particles, combined with the natural moss, allows for frequent plant irrigation while providing good aeration for healthy root growth. Exo Terra® Rainforest has been heat treated to reduce bacterial contamination. Its exclusive and improved manufacturing and packaging system ensures a flexible and dust-free substrate. Before the substrate is wrapped, three applications are made to remove as much dust as possible and the substrate goes through a smoothing process which eliminates chips and makes it soft to the touch.
